Personally I’d just throw them in, roughly chopped up, but then I always like to go for the laziest option. If you’re planning to blend the sauce anyway, I don’t think the skins should make too much difference.

Thank you

So easy – we use it as pasta sauce, lasagne sauce or soup. It freezes brilliantly.5 stars

Yes you could use passata! It will obviously be less chunky than using chopped tomatoes, but will still be tasty :)

It looks great! I was wondering… Would you use passata di pomodoro (tomato puree) instead of choped tomatoes?

Thank you very much!

Yes I’ve heard of it being sold in cans! That’s much less common here. I like it in tubes – you can just use as much as you want and there’s no rush to use the rest of the tube, it stores in the fridge for ages :)

Tomato paste and tomato purée are indeed the same thing but if you should ever need to know, the average American has never encountered it in a tube! Tomato paste there comes in cans, to get it in a tube generally seems to involve finding a specialist Italian grocery store or ordering it online.  I’ve just got my first slow cooker – looking forward to whipping up a batch of this sauce, thanks for the recipe!

I’m keen to try out variations on this (Mexican, Indian, as you suggest). I was too lazy yesterday to make the tofu balls, but I’m going to make them tonight, because I know the combo will be great. Thanks for the recipe.5 stars
