In reply to Shirley. Nope, it's totally ok to dry cook in the slow cooker - depending on the recipe. The potatoes release a bit of steam as they cook anyway :)

I like the idea of the slow cooker jacket potatoes, but dont they “boil dry” in the cooker? My understanding of using a slow cooker is that everything cooked in it must have a certain amount of fluid surrounding it, to stop the cooker boiling dry.

I am coming back from a fun filled vacation and need something easy so will be trying this tonight! They will go wonderfully with the tomatoes I picked up at the farm stand on the way home. Thanks Becca!
